The Lab School Summer Camp is a day camp in Kirkwood for children 3-6 years old who are potty trained and have not attended kindergarten.
Camps consist of hands-on activities, each focusing on a central theme. Activities include water fun, art experiences and dramatic play. Each session features a special guest or field trip.
Camps are offered in 1 week increments ($165/week)… come to one or all! The camp day is from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM and includes a morning snack and catered lunch. Don’t miss the memories of a wonderful summer experience for your preschool camper, planned and taught by degreed staff!
Session 1: 6/4-6/8
FUN ON THE FARM
Spend a week ‘down on the farm!’ Farmhands will make big red barns for our farm animals and create a sweet yellow chick of their own as part of our farming fun. We’ll paint with cornhusks and drive tractors through the “mud”. We’ll take a walking field trip to see chickens and learn about keeping them in your backyard. The camp chuckwagon promises to be a fun place to cook up a special snack. C’mon down!
Session 2: 6/11-6/15
STORYBOOK STEW & BUILDING BLOCKS, TOO
Celebrate treasured stories in this unique camp. Featured books were voted the most popular for preschool and Pre-K through the Missouri Building Blocks Award. We’ll hear these award-winning stories and enjoy related activities about bunnies, frogs, pets and monsters! We’ll create hats and 3-D dog masks, design playgrounds and enjoy ‘face’ pancakes. We will build with a variety of materials including Jenga blocks, shaving cream (mortar!), bamboo pieces, wire and straws. The CHAMPS Assistance Dogs will be our guests at this literacy and building camp.
Session 3: 6/18-6/22
SIMPLE MACHINES... MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU
Join us for this invisible force-filled adventure! We’ll explore simple machines like catapults, ramps and pulleys, and observe the wonder of gravity, speed and motion. Campers will try their hands at wood-working using hammers, nails, screwdrivers, and screws. We’ll design Marbleworks towers and build race cars out of Legos and Mobilios. Our visitor will help us construct incline planes for car races. Campers… start your engines and see how simple machines work with the invisible forces all around us!
Session 4: 6/25-6/29
HEAD TO TOE, BODY LET'S GO
We’ll make a healthy snack of ‘ants on a log’ and smoothies to eat and digest. We’ll get the blood flowing with games that make our hearts pump and our lungs do the magic work of letting us breathe hard. Get ready for ‘jello brain surgery’, life-sized portraits and looking at the ‘sense-national’ wonder of our five senses. Our visitor will conduct a ‘super sniffler smelling sense’ experiment. This will be a wild head to toe adventure!
